Yoga for Recovery is an open-level vinyasa class that aims to connect the principles of recovery and 12-step philosophy to the asana practice. In this class we will move through traditional asana poses, linking the breath with movement, with themes and focus centered around practices and tools to help those in recovery from addiction.
This class is open to all, regardless if you consider yourself in recovery or have an addiction. All types of addictions are recognized from "traditional" substance abuse and behavioral addiction (symptoms) to the "thinking" (root cause).
This is a safe space for those who want to practice and be in community with others in recovery, for those affected by a loved one with addiction, and for those who might want to explore the idea of being in recovery.

Amanda first heard the phrase, "yoga is politics and politics is yoga" from Seane Corn in 2016 and since then, through a series of random events, yoga became her organizing principle and a source of guidance and joy.
She recently completed her 300hr Teacher Training with Jivamukti Yoga School and will be forever grateful to the teachers at 841 and 33-02 Broadway who supported her journey and continue to inform her teaching.
With a background in organizing and recovery spaces she aims to bring the elements of service, awareness and community into her practice. Her classes can be described as classical vinyasa; centered around the breath, an approachable yet rigorous asana leaving space for the magic and FUN that is yoga.
